PE/PP/OPP Roll and Bag Product Group


The PE/PP/OPP Roll and Bag Product Group encompasses a range of plastic materials that are derived from the transformation of simple molecular structures, known as monomers, consisting of carbon (C), hydrogen (H), oxygen (O), nitrogen (N), and other organic or inorganic elements. These monomers are polymerized, wherein the bonds within the molecular groups are broken, resulting in the formation of long, chain-like structures called polymers.

Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) are prominent types of plastic materials widely employed globally. They exhibit distinct characteristics due to their differing chemical compositions. Oriented polypropylene (OPP), on the other hand, is a product obtained by mechanically modifying the properties of polypropylene film during its production process through unidirectional stretching.

Polyethylene materials are categorized into three primary groups: high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), and medium-density polyethylene (MDPE). The choice of raw material varies based on the desired properties of the final product.

What are the differences between PE and PP?

Polypropylene has a higher melting point compared to polyethylene. Consequently, polypropylene can withstand higher temperatures, while polyethylene maintains its strength at lower temperatures.

Polyethylene exhibits high flexibility as a material, whereas polypropylene is not as flexible as polyethylene. The level of flexibility in polypropylene can be altered based on the production method employed.

Polyethylene is highly resistant to wear and tear resulting from usage. However, when it comes to abrasive chemicals (such as acids, etc.), polypropylene demonstrates greater resistance.

Areas of Use

PP and OPP packaging materials possess a natural transparency and glossy finish, setting them apart from PE packaging. Consequently, they have gained significant popularity in the textile industry as an ideal packaging solution. Their moisture-resistant properties also contribute to maintaining the integrity of textile products.

Moreover, polypropylene packaging, with its transparent and visually appealing attributes, is highly sought after for individual product packaging and in-store displays.

In contrast, PE packaging holds a prominent position in the realm of industrial packaging, primarily due to its flexibility and resilience against wear and tear resulting from regular usage.

HDPE, known for its cost-effectiveness and robustness, stands out as a versatile polymer suitable for various applications. Its inherent milky-white and semi-translucent appearance limits its use in applications that prioritize transparency. However, HDPE can be easily customised through colouring and printing techniques to meet specific visual requirements.

LDPE, with its exceptional tensile strength, elongation properties, and resistance to punctures, is particularly favoured for producing high-quality films and foils. It finds its niche in transparent and lustrous packaging materials. Additionally, its flexibility makes it an ideal choice for packaging sharp and piercing products. Like HDPE, LDPE can also be personalised through colouring and printing processes.
